We’re so excited to announce that your student newspaper scooped a ‘Highly Commended’ award for Best Website at the Student Publication Association awards, coming second only to stunning King’s College London tabloid Roar News.

The 2015 conference is our first, and the first time we have ever entered any awards. We are so proud of all the hard work the team have undertaken this year.

From my perspective, it has been an absolute pleasure to edit and design the website, starting with a basic template and customising it to its current standard. The quality of multimedia content has shot up this year and we couldn’t have achieved this without our loyal contributors and readers.  I can’t quite believe it, but the site is still only seven months old!

All of us at The Rabbit would like to thank the Student Publication Association executive and the judge for our category, Nick Petrie.

Nick has worked at the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, and is currently Deputy Head of News Development & Digital at The Times. He said: “Upon visiting this website I was immediately struck by the strong use of photography and how the design balanced a good density of articles with white space. The designers and developers have clearly worked hard to build an experience to entice readers in.”

“A strong selection of student focused news stories demonstrate that this publication hasn’t forgotten its core purpose – to inform and delight its readers,” he added.
