Description of Role

For that reason we offer a volunteer role of Head of Production (Video) who’s main goal is to oversee a team of Camera Operators and Sound Technicians. The role includes providing the help, support and training needed by the Contributors and Volunteers working in any one project. The main aspect of this role is making sure projects have Camera Operators and Sound Technicians available and if not, finding someone else to do it, or stepping in to the role themselves.

Responsibilities:

  • Meeting and communicating with Content Editor (Video), Deputy Coordinator (Video), Video Section Editors, Camera Operators, Sound Technicians
  • Overseeing a team of Camera Operators and Sound Technicians.
  • Assigning a Camera Operator and a Sound Technician to any specific project and making sure the work gets done and that the deadlines are met. If necessary, stepping in place of Contributor or Volunteer to complete the task.
  • Making sure the footage from shoots is immediately imported in the correct way.
  • Coordinating production (including live stream) for all major events through the year such as Freshers’ Week, Leadership Race, Derby Day and Summer Ball.

Weekly Tasks:

  • Meeting with Content Editor (Video), Deputy Coordinator (Video), Video Section Editors and Head of Post-Production.
  • Communicating between Section Editors and Camera Operators and Sound Technicians.
  • Finding more people to build the pool of Camera Operators and Sound Technicians we have.
  • Providing help, support and training to new and current Camera Operators and Sound Technicians.
  • Assigning a Camera Operator and a Sound Technician to any specific project.

The responsibilities of this role include:

• Managing and populating the Rebel website with content from writing, radio and video • Liaising with section editors from the three mediums regarding content scheduling • Posting content with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to increase engagement • Designing and distributing email marketing for Rebel, to inform members or upcoming events/projects, and the organisation’s progress, amongst other things

• Responsible for selecting images to accompany website posts

Skill requirements:

• Managing and populating the social media accounts of Rebel, which are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat • Liaising with the Digital Content Assistant to schedule posts on social media for Rebel online content • Promoting Rebel events, workshops and membership through our online accounts

• Responding in good time to any messages received from readers/interested parties on our social media accounts

Skill requirements:

• Using our KPIs to develop a strategy to grow our membership, and increase our engagement and reach

Skill requirements:

• Candidates should ideally be able to produce a written report with ease • They should also be able to get to grips with our analytics tools, in order to report them back to us • A keen eye for detail and a knack for spotting patterns and deciphering trends is also beneficial • Whilst some knowledge of digital analytics is desirable, it is not essential, as the whole point of Rebel is being able to learn and try new things, which we would happily help you with • The key thing is that you have good communication and coordination skills, can work well within a time, have a knack for problem solving, and are willing to learn and act on your own initiative

• Responsible for the overall brand and image of Rebel as an organisation • Ensuring content that goes out is on-brand and represents the core values of Rebel – quality multimedia, by and for University of Essex students • Engaging with, and reaching out to, interested parties such as Societies, Sports Clubs, Southend and Loughton campuses etc. to increase engagement with Rebel • Responsible for the public image and representation of Rebel

• From time to time, you may be required to also coordinate the organisation of events for Rebel, such as launch events

Skill requirements:
